Hi Vine:
I have perennially been asked by friends and relatives to interpret dreams for them. I have told them the same thing, they should do it themselves. Why? The thing is, dreams are very symbolic, and they usually are very subjective. For example, a dog may be meaningless to you, but for me, I see a dog as a symbol of a hero, a rescuer. Some people equates dogs with bites and fear, while some remembers happy childhood memories with dogs. So interpreting dreams is subjective. |

While I agree that dream interpretations are subjective, there are universal symols that transcends cultures. I think these universal symbols are all the more powerful and if seen in a dream, should be taken most seriously.

I think what makes a successful interpretation would be to figure out which symbols in the dreams are worth interpreting. I mean dreams are very richly detailed, even colors are considered when you make an interpretation, which could lead to a sensory overload of sorts. So your task as a dream interpreter would be to help the dreamer identify which symbols he needs to take note of, and then aid him in how to interpret them
